This September, 20 passionate students from around the globe have embarked on an extraordinary journey in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master PROMISE program at the University of Oulu. Their academic adventure kicks off with dynamic modules on the mineral processing value chain, featuring engaging lectures in mineral processing and geoscience.
But this experience is about so much more than academics! This vibrant cohort will dive headfirst into the captivating Finnish culture and embrace the magic of winter, as their time in Oulu from September to January aligns perfectly with the region’s breathtaking winter months. For many, it will be their first encounter with snow, and they’ll have the thrilling chance to chase the awe-inspiring Northern Lights, unlocking the secrets of life near the Arctic Circle.
After six unforgettable months in Oulu, the students will continue their journey at Montanuniversität Leoben in Austria. There, they will immerse themselves in a culture renowned for its gemütlichkeit—enjoying art, rich coffee, healthy lifestyles, and an array of exciting sports. They will also prepare for intensive lectures on industrial mineral processing and bulk solids technology, equipping them with vital skills for their future careers.
The group will split into two exhilarating paths, as they transition from Austria. One group will head to the University of Zagreb in Croatia, diving deep into the innovative fields of circular economy and recycling. Meanwhile, the other group will travel to Universidad Santa María in Chile, honing their focus on sustainable mineral processing plant design and engineering.
This journey is more than an education; it is a transformative adventure that will empower these students to become pioneers in the dynamic field of mineral processing. Get ready for a future full of possibilities!
Remember that our application for the 4th intake is open from October 1st to December 31st; if you feel you need some new insight for your mining and mineral processing career, apply to the PROMISE Master program.
